I’m am sure this question is already answered somewhere but if it is I can’t find it; can I monitor Web cam XP or 7 locally ie. behind the same modem but not using the monitor section in the web cam software, whilst I it is broadcasting to the web? I want to be able to monitor it from elsewhere in the house using my iPad.

While it broadcast on the web, it also broadcast on your local network so yes you can monitor from any computer on the network through a web page.
There is no iPad app for webcamXP (however there is one for netcam studio).
