Can't start client or Netcam Studio X

When I try to start Netcam Client (C:\Program Files\Netcam Studio - 64-bit\NetcamStudio.Client.exe)
or Netcam Studio X (C:\Program Files\Netcam Studio - 64-bit\NetcamStudioX.exe) I get this error message:

Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

This is whether I am logged in as an administrator or not. The Netcam Studio Service (64 bit) is installed and running, and I can access it through the web browser (but can’t add camera there).
Also, the icons for the client and X programs in the Start menu are generic icons, not the Netcam icon described in the help files.

I have VS2012 Redist 64 bit installed, as well as .NET Framework 4.5.2. Running Windows 7 Professional.
I don’t have this problem with any other application.

Any help would be appreciated.

Reinstall the app from the same account that you try to use it. It shouldn’t be required however nobody ever reported a similar issue.

Your installation probably got somehow corrupted in term of access rights on the hard disk.
