CG-NAT ISP Remote Solution?

With many ISPs in the UK opting to provide broadband services based upon CG-NAT it becomes difficult to access your Netcam Server from outside sources.

The reason being is that you cannot use Port Fowarding for incoming connections to your PC when your ISP is using CG-NAT…

I know you can use VPN software to overcome this @ a price!

I was wondering if anyone else has come up against this and has a simple solution that just works.

To date I have looked at the following:

ZeroTier
Ngrock
Zrock
localhost.run
serveo
Tailscale
Cloudflare Tunnel
Pagekite

some of these providers are commercial and some offer a free plan

Any suggestions or preferences most welcome.

I am currently testing playit.gg and it seems to be working well.

And it has a free account.

I will report back after testing this.

That´s happening a lot since IPv4 addresses are out. They push IPv6. Some ISP give you a public IP for an extra cost.
Anyway thanks a lot for this information! I will certainly test playit.gg since I have a need for that also.

Hi Henrik,

thank you for the reply.

Yes, my ISP is offering a fixed IP address for £8 GBP per month, which seems a high price to pay for accessing Netcam on your pc.

I only check my cams occaisionally if I receive an alert.

playit.gg seems to be working fine on the free account so far.

I hope it will work for you also.

I downloaded the playit.gg app and created a windows service using NSSM Service Manager

There are simple instructions here:

Kind regards,

Mark
