Hello,
It seems that version 1.7 has a bug : motion detector is not triggered when recording is on going.
I uninstall 1.7 , remove moonware directory from program data completely and reinstall 1.6 .
I got the following message : Exception Detail:This version of Netcam Studio Free is outdated, please download a newer version or enter a license key to keep using this specific version.

Is there anyway I can reuse the 1.6 free version ?

No, with free version you must be on the last version.
How did “motion detector is not triggered when recording is on going.” work in 1.6?

Yes, 1.6 worked fine with both recording and motion detect.
