Thank you. I just installed the new version and was setting up everything (2 cameras). All things worked. But with only the service running, I can’t get the client interface or the Studio X to start. Either it says “server is not running”, or in case of Studio X, “Console and service cannot run at the same time”.

thank you in advance for your help

Hello,
NCS Service and NCS X cannot run at the same time since they use the same resources. So close one of them.
For the client. Make sure that the credentials are OK. Admin? admin.
As for Local instance not running depends if you start the client on the server running NCS or another computer. Be sure to use the correct server IP.

Thank you for the prompt response.

If I start the NCS client with elevated privileges (as Administrator) it works, as the login dialogue shows “local instance: running”. Then the user can login to the local server.
But the user on the specific machine is a network user in our company without admin rights. Then it always says “local instance: not running”.

Therefore I tried to give the user the rights to start and stop the service by himself (with a little tool called ‘ServiceSecurityEditor’). But that didn’t help either. It still says “local instance: not running”

How can I start the service / server on the local machine (automatically), and letting the normal user using the NCS Client at any given time to monitor the cameras?

Sorry, as I most likely misunderstood something…

As I said don’t bother about the “local instance: not running”.

In the Windows Services you set the service Netcam Studio to automatically with Windows. In the guides and tutorials you have more information.

In NCS X you can also set users with credentials that can get access to different parts of the server.

Make sure that these are set in the Windows Firewall. If you run the computers on the Public LAN this usta lso be market in the Firewall. Private or Public LAN is set in Ethernet config in the Computer Settings. By default it is Private.

When NCS as a Service is running start the NCS Client, red icon. If you run the client on the server computer you can just enter credentials and login. If you run the NCS Client on another computer you must enter the LAN IP number to the server computer and then the credentials.

You can also use the web client which might be easier. In the browser address field enter http://Server_IP_address:8100. Now you will receive a login box where you enter the credentials. and login.

Thank you for that great support, Henrik. Much appreciated.
Everything is working now.
Solved by ignoring the “not running” statement, as you said.
