I did have another thread for this, but it seems to have disappeared?

Anyway, even after down grading to 1.3.2, our recordings our now stopping every couple of days. This is the last log file, any ideas?

Hi!
I am familiar with “(Error @ 04:30:31.400 LibraryManager Failed to add Item to the Library” . That happened to me when NCS could not save the file on the location of the Library. NCS did not have access to that storage space.

Why would it be fine for 2-3 days, sometimes a week, then just stop?

Well, that I do not know. Windows in general … However, is the location of the Library on the same computer as NCS is running or is it outside, must it use the network? Is the Library on a NAS or … ?

Do you have this also with the current 1.3.6 ?

Because we will not do investigate on older versions however if it still happens with the current release then we will do our best to solve the problem… I remember that I changed several things following your previous remarks.

Anyway after aborted threads which we see in your logs then the behavior of the software may be weird.

I had a problem with logs filling up the HDD on 1.3.5, which is why I downgraded and that went away.

Does 1.3.6 fix the log problem? Or is there a way to change the location the logs are stored (not C), or limit the size of the logs?

It is on the same PC, only a different partition.

Not from log perspecitve nothing has changed between 1.3.0 to 1.3.6 so exactly the same may occur in 1.3.6 as well as in your current 1.3.2

It’s true however that I should allow disabling loging to HDD in the future since it only makes the system slower.

It is creating a 15ms recording and then stopping. It is recording to another drive on the same PC.

Can you please confirm that it’s also using the background encoding?

In the meantime, please remove it from the recording options.

I am not sure, but if you are referring to this “09.06.2016 13:06:09.779 Source(2).StartRecording Started File Recording [MotionDetector]. Took 15 ms” it is the time from motion is detected by the system to the actual recording starts. In an ideal situation it should be 0 ms.
I have this also in all my versions of ncs and it is correct.
It is there with or without background recording.

I suppose it is related to problem writing to the target folder (Library), probably either because it’s a network disk or a full disk.

Anyway @twgs1, can you please provide the following info:

  • describe where you save the library (local hard disk, remote server, nas, …)
  • ensure that you have enough space + write access and that connectivity is up
  • confirm it’s only the MJPEG mode
  • report version number, if x86 / x64 and if licensed / registered version of netcam studio (I suppose so since I see more than 30 videos source but cannot find a corresponding license for you in our system)

I will add more verifications in this direction prior to start writing the video (which is done for the “standard” recording mode, not the new MJPEG one)

    I turned this off and it has started to record again however still no videos in the web client library section (refering to other post issue that Steven beleives is linked to this issue)

Hi!

  1. Videos being recorded to local HDD - are there actually any videos stored on the HDD?
  2. If you use this link http://172.16.70.27:80/video/mjpg.cgi?profileid=3?quad=1&resolution=704x480 to the camera in the Custom URL you must add username and password so it look like this
    http://username:password@172.16.70.27:80/video/mjpg.cgi?profileid=3?quad=1&resolution=704x480
    Stream Tpe should be set to MJPEG.

As already suggested, in the recording option, please check if you have the background-encoding mode option enabled.

If it’s the case please disable it since it’s probably the reason of your recording not working (at least the case for one other user at the begining of this forum post).

I’m guessing you missed that I did this. Thanks turning this off fixed the not recording issue.
