To free up my main computer I’ve set up a dedicated computer for NCS. Fresh Win7 64bit install on a Lenovo M93p with new SSD (10A90011MX snS4F73608), updated and installed latest NCSX and VLC, nothing else. 16 cam lisence, 5 different IP cams.
Installede yesterday and it looked fine, but when I checked it today it had crashed. Ok, restarted NCS, letting it stay full screened and logged in my phone - NCS crashed. Restarted, letting it run minimized and logged in my phone - NCS crashed. Restarted and tried again - Crashed.
How do I troubleshoot this one?

Thanx for fast reply!
When updating NCS, should I remove and install, of just install again?
It’s been running perfectly for a long time on my main computer, so I can’t remember what I did last time
Can’t remember on the fly what I installed and what not, so now I’ve installed framework 4.8, C++ visual and paved over 1.9.0 with 1.9.1.
And before I was done typing here it crashed.
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application’s support team for more information.
Update:
Moved library folder from user - docs - videos to c:\video. Now it did not crash right away. Testing are to be done, but it has worked for several minutes, recorded, played, recorded and played from phone and still no crash, mostly… Going from full screen on the server gave an error message but no crash, I’ll post it below from the server machine.

Well, don´t really know what to say. Somewhere it is a serious problems on that computer. Since it is the avcodec-58.dll question is if something in Win7 is disabled for handling video/audio content? Is this a Win7 32-bit system and try to run NCS 64-bit or …
It seems that you can still update to Win10 for free if you want.
I’m having a similar issue.
When I launch NCS I can see the process for a moment in task manager but then it closes immediately. I just did a clean install on a clean W10 with latest version of Visual studio and .NET
(removed all remnants from C:\users%username%\AppData\Local\Moonware\ & C:\users%username%\AppData\Roaming\Moonware\ & C:\ProgramData\Moonware)
Eventvwr threw me these errors.:
Service cannot be started. System.InvalidOperationException: Cannot load Counter Name data because an invalid index ‘’ was read from the registry.

It says something is wrong in the Registry. I suggest you need to clean out what´s in there for Netcam Studio. When I really want to clean out a program I use Revo Uninstaller. When NCS is installed use Revo uninstaller and select Advanced instead of the normal installation program for NCS. Revo will finalize with a scan of the registry and remove what´s in there related to NCS.
-Henrik
I typically use IObituninstaller, I followed your suggestion and installed REVO, cleaned the entire registry, but still no luck. Then I tried again with a reboot after the uninstall, but the application just keeps shutting down itself. Is there a log file somewher that I can provide?
Open Windows Event viewer, Windows logs, applications. Look for errors connected to Netcam Studio.
I assume you have tested to reinstall .net frame work 4.8 and C++ from Netcam stufio download page.
Thanks for the suggestion, I indeed did a clean install of C++, tried to repair .NET4.8 (running W10 so uninstall is not possible) and reinstalled NCS.
Eventviewer threw it’s first error on .NET:

Hi,
These are tricky errors. The KERNELBASE.dll is part of the Windows system and not clear how to solve. Try to run a system file check. As an Admin run sfc /scannow
Can you send a more detailed log and I will forward to our developers.
Thanks again, some corrupt file where found and repaired, but still NCSX cannot start
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at windir\Logs CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.
Is it the CBS log that you are interested in, or rather the detailed evenviewer files? and where shall I send them to?
It was the event viewer file, but if not NCS even start anymore that’s not interesting. It seems that something is corrupt in Windows. Have you run this repair several times?
I suggest you do a new clean installation as described here How to make a clean installation of Netcam Studio - #2
–Henrik
it’s not that it doesn’t start at all it just closes after launching. I did indeed do a clean install several times as per your suggestion (For what it’s worth: it would be more useful if you would refer to the paths as C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\Moonware_studios )
the server was running fine before I attempted to update NCSX. I did not try the reapair several times. I’ve sent you a link wheras to download the extended Logfiles.
